Sri Satya Sai Baba on spiritual Sadhana

God cannot be identified with one Name and one Form. He is all names and Forms.

Your names too are His, you are also his Forms. You appear as separate individual bodies because the eye that sees them seeks only bodies. When you clarify and sanctify your vision and look at them through the Atmic (spiritual) eye, the eye that penetrates behind the physical, with all its attributes, then you will see others as Waves on the Ocean of the Absolute, as the thousand heads etc.

Satya Sai Baba also says that today all spiritual sadhana is being done through the mind. As long as the mind dominates spiritual exercises, the goal of self –realization cannot be attained. The mind is like a thief, who will not allow himself to be caught. When the vision is centered on the self, the mind fades away.

Today we are wasting our time on physical and mental exercises for spiritual realization. The truth is there is only one Divine Spirit that is immanent in every thing. There is no dichotomy between the worldly and the spiritual. The phenomenal universe is a projection of the spirit.

All that exist in the cosmos are like sparks from the Divine flame. All living beings have emanated from the Divine and they have all the qualities of the Divine. As per Sai Baba, for all the sorrows and sufferings man experiences, it is the body-consciousness that is responsible.

As long as this bodily delusion remains, the fruit of bliss cannot be God. The seed of bodily attachment has to be given up, for the tree of life to grow and yield the flower of wisdom and the fruit of bliss.

Don’t criticize others. Caviling at others is a grievous sin.

According to Satya Sai Baba, all are children of God. Do not injure any one. You reap as you sow; you cannot grow a fruit- tree when the seed you have planted is of a weed.

There are some ignorant persons who laugh at bhajans (spiritual songs), and other acts of worship and characterize them as waste of time. But the time spent in thoughts of God, Singing of songs of God and adoration of the divine is indeed well-spent, for it rewards you with a rich harvest of mental peace and courage.

So, spiritual exercises help us in our daily life and also to know the God.
