Puttaparthi: Abode of Sri Satya Sai Baba

 

Puttaparthi village is in Anantpur district of Andhra Pradesh. Anantpur district was a part of the glorious Mouryan Empire in 3RD century BC. This district is a part of the Rayalaseema, a region in the Andhra Pradesh. Puttaparthi is described as a “place full of divinity, where the concept of service to man is service to divinity”.

 

How to reach Puttaparthi?

The abode of Bhagavan sri satya sai baba is accessible by air, train and road. For anyone coming from abroad, the nearest airports are Chennai and Bangalore. Indian Airlines operate regular flights to this temple town from these destinations.

 

By Train:

Many trains are available from Bangalore, Hyderabad and Vijayawada.

 

By Road:Puttaparthi is well connected by road from Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad.

 

By AIR:
Puttaparthi has airport facility. Flights are available from Bangalore and Hyderabad.

 

 

Formalities to be observed at Puttaparthi:

 

1. To give visitors a brief idea, the first place to go for those flying from abroad is the foreigner’s registration desk and public relations office which is open from 6 AM-6PM. After that they have to approach the accommodation office to get their rooms allocated. Once in and settled, it is time to get oneself familiarised to the rules and regulations, procedures and the discipline that is very strictly followed in Prashanthi Nilayam.

 

Rules and Regulations:

 

1. Smoking and chewing of tobacco
2. Consumption of alcohol
3. Eating non vegetarian food are strictly prohibited.
4. Every evening, the lights are put off at 9 PM.
5. There is a dress code for men and women

For men: loose white cotton dress (shorts are taboo)
For women: covering the entire body and a shawl.
6. Footwear is not permitted in the premises of prayer hall and darshan hall.
7. Devotees have to cooperate with the ever present sevadal volunteers in maintain in tidiness, discipline and sanity of ashram and observe all the things in strictness.
8. Devotees are also adviced top remain within premises of the Ashram as long as they stay here for their good and sake.
9. All facilities like canteen, bakery, consumer goods stores, post office, telephone and banking are available in the ashram.
10. Devotees are warned not to encourage those who solicit money from them, claiming to have the blessings of the baba.
11. Swami does not delegate his powers to any body and devotees need not to pay money anywhere to anybody at all in the ashram. They have to purchase canteen coupons for food and at shops in the shopping complex.
12. If any devotee has any problem, he/she can report to the chief security officer at his office which is located near gopuram gate which is opened 24 hours.

 

It is a must visit place for the devotees of Sri Satya Sai Baba especially during birthday celebrations of Bhagavan Sai Baba.
